I was faced with making a complete new turret basket for the Sherman as
all the remains I had removed from range tanks were scrap. I had previously
drawn a full set of manufacturing drawings which had solved all the problems
but it was still a big job taking about 14 days work. This shows the basket
framework upon initial assembly. I built it up on the turret ring to ensure
accuracy. |

inside. All 150 1 1/4" balls were usuable. |

Time to fit the basket. At this point the hull interior suddenly got very
small! My good friend James is sitting in 'his' seat.....
