38)
After all the hull repairs were completed, I removed the transmission assembly,
all 4.5 tonnes of it. I had left this in to give the hull some integrity
during the repairs. |
39)
With all hull repairs and fittings finished, I moved the hull outside and
took off the remaining bogies prior to sandblasting.

White and green at last!
This was
October 2001.

42)
I rebuilt all the bogies using new springs. I did have to replace the missing
two units and I managed to match the castings.
This vehicle
has the early skids which are very hard to find now. The wheels came from
Australia and I replaced the tyres with good take offs. |
43)
This is the refitting of the transmission assembly.
Fortunately
there was nothing wrong with the unit so all I had to replace were oil
seals.
|
44)
Front compartment with some of the equipment back in.
Note the
early pedestal mounted seats, all original except I had to make new trays.
Also note
the parking brake on the back of the transmission. |
45)
One of the first things I fitted was the auxiliary generator. This is the
early HRH-28 unit with the inverted engine.
The fuel
tank above is a new stainless steel one.

46)
This is the front of the engine bay showing the auxiliary generator exhaust
with its small silencer, the fire extinguisher horns and various conduits
and cables. |

This is the rear view showing the fuel filter and shut off valve to the
left of the door opening.
